A Duquesa da Cornualha representa a Rainha na Parada do Soberano / The Duchess of Cornwall represents the Queen at the Sovereign's Parade

Just in case I didn't say it enough times: I love seeing a woman at military events! And for this very reason I bring today to this space Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

The Prince of Wales's wife represented the Queen at the Sovereign's Parade at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst  (RMAS). The Parade takes place at the end of each year and marks the passing out from Sandhurst of Officer Cadets who have completed the Commissioning Course.

During the event, the Duchess reviewed the Senior Cadets and awarded some honors, including the Queen's Medal, awarded for academic performance.

It is the first time that Camilla presides over this event. As a soldier's daughter, the Duchess did not forget her father in her speech to young graduates:

"In 1936, almost exactly eighty years to the day, my father walked up those famous steps to commence his commission in the Twelfth Lancers. Like many of you standing on parade today, he hoped for peace and a little adventure. But within three years he was amongst the British Expeditionary Force at Dunkirk; then with the Desert Rats facing Rommel's Afrika Corps; and finally imprisoned in Spangenberg Castle as a Prisoner of War.
Then, as now, the international order was challenged; then, as now, liberty was threatened - but then, and now once again, good men and women stood up in defiance to defend our Nation's values.
We come today not only to honour the legacy of our forebears and to celebrate the historic service of this Great British Army, but also to observe the oath which each of you has made: the same solemn pledge to serve, to lead and to protect."

Eu já disse o quanto adoro eventos militares?
Did I already mention how much I love military events?
