Surpresas na #SweDE2016 / Surprises in the #SweDE2016

Do you know what Rentrées bring us? State Visits! And the first kicked off last Wednesday.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden headed for a four-day visit to Germany, the birthplace of the Swedish Queen.

Upon arrival they were greeted by President Joachim Gauck and his partner Daniela Schadt.

The King and Queen of Sweden take State visits very seriously, and the King wore his military uniform and the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Silvia, always very cherished in Germany, was quite elegant in a tweed set and displayed a discreet pin also from the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

After a series of commitments during the day which included a meeting with the German Chancellor Angela Merkl, the royal couple was preparing for the State Dinner.

The Banquet hosted by the German President to the Swedish Royal Couple took place at Bellevue Palace in Berlin.

For a long time now we didn't see Silvia in ball-gown mode, as the Queen has chosen more slender silhouettes for her ceremony dresses in recent years. This fuscia dress was a pleasant surprise for its color and shape.

Sílvia escolheu ainda a Tiara Connaught.
Silvia also chose the Connaught Tiara. And you know my thoughts regarding this tiara: I find it very beautiful and delicate but the way it is used does not convince me.

In the evening, the royal couple offered a reciprocal dinner at Charlottenburg Palace.

Silvia surprised us in purple  by wearing a second tiara on this State Visit. Surprisingly it was also her choice: the Baden Fringe Tiara.

The Queen didn't wear this tiara for years, always opting for more imposing tiaras. Perhaps a tribute to the host country, from which this tiara is original.

But the surprises did not stop there. Silvia also wore an huge brooch never seen before. Thanks to dear M. B. from Royal Jewels Fan Club I got to know that this piece belonged to Princess Viktoria of Baden (1862-1930), a Germanic princess and wife of King Gustaf V of Sweden.

A double tribute to Baden (a former Grand Duchy of the German Empire) last night in Berlin!
The fact that still is possible to use some jewels that were considered lost or dismantled for years, makes me think about the surprises that may come from the royal vaults in the future!

Que linda...
Gorgeous...
